Fre Nonalcoholic Wines

There is a culinary science and art to pairing fine wines with food. No drink is as ritualized today as the culture of wine and its ability to enhance the flavors of food. Turns out, ethanol does not in fact enhance the flavor of food but numbs our taste buds (!)

Fre produces de-alcoholized wines. This is not grape juice, as people may assume. This wine still has the flavors that came from fermentation and tannins, plus healthy antioxidants and polyphenols. And only one fourth of the calories. Fre makes Merlot, Chardonnay, Champagne, Red Blend, White Zinfandel and Moscato. I have tried the former four. At first they came off as a bit sweeter than regular wine, but now I much prefer their taste. How nice it is to pour another glass while enjoying an Italian meal with zero worries of the impending hangover.

I can find Fre nonalcoholic wines in my local Ralphs and Bevmo.
