You’d think ditching alcohol automatically makes you feel amazing, but what happens when it doesn’t? Kate Yoder quit drinking expecting glowy skin and more energy. Instead, she was slammed with mysterious symptoms like acne, bloating, fatigue, anxiety, nausea, and sleepless nights.

Why was she feeling so sick, when supposedly she was the healthiest she’d ever been? Turns out alcohol can leave the gut, liver, and drainage pathways overloaded for YEARS. Toxins build up. Trauma stores in your tissues. It’s all connected.

Kate – a longtime client, alum of the 5X certification program, and holistic health coach who created a beautiful business helping women heal after alcohol, shares her raw and honest journey with detoxification, liver healing, and the deeper self-awareness that helped her get to the root of her symptoms.

This episode is packed with so many incredible lessons about listening to your gut and how to holistically thrive after alcohol.

IN THIS EPISODE:

  • How going alcohol-free exposed deeper layers of health issues for Kate, from acne and bloating to anxiety and fatigue

  • Why persistent health complaints, like poor sleep and digestive problems, are often dismissed by doctors but may be your body's call for real healing

  • The importance of foundational steps like blood sugar balancing, mineral-rich hydration, and opening drainage pathways to transform your energy

  • Parasites, toxins, and the reality of hidden pathogens, plus practical advice to reset, from swapping out toxic products to resetting your nervous system health

REFLECTION QUESTION

What feelings or reactions come up for you when you consider the idea that ditching alcohol is only the first layer of true healing? What other layers might exist in your own journey?

“Sobriety promises you this glowy, glamorous, clear-headed feeling and I was just like, what is wrong? I genuinely thought that my body was broken. I spiraled at the beginning and then I got myself together and realized, okay, there's just more work to be done. There's more healing to be done. Even pre-drinking, just growing up, we expose ourselves to a lot of different kinds of toxins from modern living and disconnecting from ourselves.” - Kate Yoder

“We grew up with Bath and Body Works, glitter spray, and self tan and makeup and all of these harmful chemicals. At the time we didn't think it was a big deal because again, it's so common, it doesn't matter. But in excess over time, if you literally grow up on all of that – and same thing with the harsh cleaning products and environmental toxins – our bodies are built to detox. They're very intelligent and we have all these organs for a reason. They're here to help. But when we're just overloading our systems with too much of it and not draining properly, it's just a snowball effect.” - Kate Yoder
