Episode 200: How to Start a Business with a Full-Time Job

Are you in the trenches working a full-time job but have even bigger dreams in your heart?

In today’s episode, Karolina is pulling back the curtain and reveals, step-by-step, how she started her alcohol-free life coaching business while working a full-time job. You’ll hear her favorite hacks and time management strategies, the mindset shifts she overcame, the importance of consistency, and why she became a morning person. Perhaps the biggest surprise of all? Karolina became an even better employee at her day job!

This inspiring conversation is applicable for any kind of business you might want to start, but if you are curious about becoming a coach, check out the Empowered AF Coach certification program, which begins in March. Applications open December 1.

As you know by now, Euphoric isn’t your typical “quit drinking” or “get sober” podcast. Our goal is to help you make space for your deeper purpose so that you can find meaningful fulfillment, connection, impact, and happiness in your life and career.

IN THIS EPISODE:

  • Karolina’s business building journey, which started in 2018, including her first social media post and setting up an LLC

  • The fallacy that you have to choose between doing good in the world and making money, and the importance of building a platform before you begin selling

  • How Karolina turned herself into a morning person and began waking up at 5am to get things done before she had to leave for work

  • Using breaks from work and free time strategically, and how starting her own business actually made Karolina a BETTER employee at her day job

  • How to avoid burnout, play the “long game,” and understand that building a business comes in phases; there’s no immediate gratification

REFLECTION QUESTION:

What are the moments in your day when you’re idling? Is it after work in the evening? Maybe on your lunch break? Maybe in the morning, while having coffee? How can you use those spare moments to building something you’re proud of, whether it be a project or a business?

“I hate to see people who do something just because they think there's money in it, but they don't actually love what they're doing. Because trust me, you will make more money doing something that you actually love. That's a fundamental belief of mine. You don't have to believe it. Other people don't have to believe it. Certainly the world doesn't believe that. But I believe that and it's helped me immensely, and it's helped my clients immensely.”  - Karolina Rzadkowolska

“When it comes to alcohol, we train our brain to get so used to immediate gratification. But we trade it for long-term contentment. When you drink, you're getting that buzz for 20 minutes. But then you wake up feeling worse, and you feel more depressed over time. And it doesn't really help motivate you to go after your bigger dreams. You know what I mean? It's like the long-term contentment is a trade off for the immediate buzz. And when it comes to being an entrepreneur, you also have to recognize it's not all about immediate gratification.” - Karolina Rzadkowolska
