Ep 142: How a Break from Alcohol Can Spur Creativity in Your Business with Megan Yelaney

Alcohol changes our neurochemistry, so it should be no surprise that ditching this beverage results in increased creativity, focus, and confidence.

After reading Karolina’s book, Euphoric: Ditch Alcohol and Gain a Happier, More Confident You, business coach and strategist Megan Yelaney completely changed her relationship with alcohol after taking an extended break and shifting her desire for drinking. She shares some incredible transformations since starting this journey both personally and with her business!

This episode of Euphoric has something to offer everyone, whether you are looking for inspiration, own a business, want to change your relationship with alcohol, or are seeking greater success and creativity in your life. Discover the power of shifting your mindset and write yourself a permission slip to really go after what you want.

Shifting your mindset - could it really be that simple?

In 2017 after a few different career paths, Megan Yelaney started her own business. She works with online coaches and service providers to start and scale their business, helping them develop a unique method to make them stand out in their field.

Megan’s relationship with alcohol began in her late teens, continuing a lot throughout college, but in 2020, things massively changed for her. This also happens to be the year we met, and that Megan discovered my book, Euphoric: Ditch Alcohol and Gain a Happier, More Confident You.

What’s so cool is that through my book and the 8-week ditch alcohol program I walk you through, Megan didn’t simply take a break from alcohol - she completely shifted her mindset!

Here's the truth, beautiful: if we don’t change our mindset around alcohol, then it will continue to feel like deprivation instead of possibility.

After finishing the program, Megan continued her alcohol-free journey for many months. Now alcohol holds way less space in her world.

Megan now looks at what she’s gained through this journey, and it’s A LOT! Creativity, confidence, energy, clarity, and learning how to cope with stress are all flourishing in her life. She has developed healthier coping mechanisms, and she’s now pretty obsessed with some of the non-alcoholic beverage companies. ;)

If this sounds like something you are equally craving, I want to encourage you right now and give you the permission to DO YOU! Take the break, shift your mindset, and step into an incredible journey of growth and possibility.

Unlocking focus and creativity.

Alcohol changes our neurochemistry, so it should be no surprise that ditching this beverage results in increased creativity, focus, and confidence. This is exactly what Megan noticed, especially over the past 10 months.

Without alcohol, the mental conversations around whether to have a drink or needing to plan for a loss of productivity after the weekend is wildly different. Now, her mind has space and energy that can be directed at what she truly cares about!

As she’s shifted her business more into teaching and educating, there is a greater need for constant creativity, and without alcohol, it is abundantly available to her! Megan is experiencing increased focus and even a willingness to take more risks.

I say this often, but it’s worth saying again! Reevaluating your relationship with alcohol will bring INCREDIBLE changes.

Discovering your unique method.

Who are you behind the camera? What is your expertise? What is your unique approach?

These three questions are key to how Megan approaches her business to support her clients, because in the midst of numerous people doing the “same” job, everyone can have an entirely different approach.

Megan created a quiz to help people realize what makes them stand out. She focuses on the trifecta of lifestyle, personality, and their individual approach. The culmination of these things is a brand that is uniquely you.

Claiming what is unique about you and your business also means letting go of what doesn’t fit, even if it’s bringing you success. Megan experienced this firsthand when she began restructuring her business. She had to take stock of her ego, realizing that even if it looks good on the outside, it still may not align with her new focus.

Her break from alcohol really made her get off of autopilot and ask the important question, “What do I actually want to do?”

Stepping into this clarity, she dreams of creating a movement - a place you can go for community, brand development, and education. In her own words, “It’s not all rainbows and butterflies,” and her vision is to offer entrepreneurs and business owners a space of support through the ups and downs.

Just like she asked herself “what do I actually want to do?”, Megan wants to offer you a permission slip to do the same. What do you really have to lose? Because when we give ourselves permission to trust ourselves and our intuition, we open up to taking risks, shifting our business, and embracing the change we’ve been truly craving all along.

“I have this new perspective, since doing your challenge… Every time I'm about to have a drink, or I'm thinking of having a drink, I run through these questions. It's not just a habit anymore. And that feels really freeing… I'm making the decision. I’m the one in control.” Megan Yelaney
